Hallam Moors in Derbyshire are full of dramatic scenery. The Peaks and Dales of Rex Preston''s native Derbyshire provide constant inspiration for his paintings. He spends as much time as possible outside sketching in preparation for his oil paintings. He seeks to capture the drama of the scenery as it changes depending on the light, weather and season. His style is light and impressionistic portraying the deeper character of the landscape as well as the immediate atmosphere and changing light and shade.
