The village of Mickleton lies at the western edge of the Cotswold escarpment in the Vale of Evesham in Gloucestershire. Colin Carruthers shows the Vale stretching out as far as the eye can see and Mickleton in the middle distance in this modern oil painting. The rich impasto used in ''View Towards Mickleton'' creates a rich and textured landscape. A clear blue sky and slight haze of heat rising on the horizon add to a sense of calm and well being in the golden summer fields of rural Gloucestershire.

Speaking about his art Colin Carruthers commented that ''Beyond simply looking at my paintings and gaining an aesthetic pleasure, I do think it''s important that they offer up space for thought".
