Using both oil and acrylic Jane Lion creates modern art works with a marine theme. Much of Jane Lion''s life was spent on and by the sea and this has influenced the subject content and colour pallet of her paintings. ''Port and Starboard'' shows us a meeting between two fishing boats.

Talking about her art work Jane Lion says: "Light and weather influence whether my paintings become abstract or representational. I love colour. I paint how I have seen things on the day stretching a small pallet by experimenting with colour tones and values and building with layers of glazes and textured matt surfaces to create depth and contrast."
